CHALLENGE TO FIRST HUNTING CONVICTION

Horse & Hound

Lawyers for Tony Wright have this week lodged an appeal against the Exmoor huntsman's conviction for hunting a wild mammal with dogs.

Jeff Hide of Knights Solicitors representing Mr Wright, lodged the appeal at Taunton, requesting that the plea and directions (pre-trial) hearing be scheduled as soon as possible.

"The hunting season starts in November and about 500,000 people will be affected by the decision," said Mr Hide.

He expects the case itself may not be heard until December or more likely January, and said it could be in Exeter, Taunton or even Bristol.
