WE CAN'T AFFORD TO STOP THE HUNT

Anti-hunt campaigners say legal bills from a landmark court victory have left them with little cash to fight another action. The League Against Cruel Sports has revealed it spent £65,000 successfully prosecuting huntsman Tony Wright for breaking the ban on hunting with dogs.

But the group yesterday said it does not have the resources to probe every allegedly illegal hunt and called on the police and Crown Prosecution Service to do more.

The pro-hunt Countryside Alliance, however, said officers' time would be better spent combating rural crime.
