CHEF ON HARE-HUNT CHARGES

Daily Express

CELEBRITY chef Clarissa Dickson Wright faces a private prosecution by animal rights activists after allegedly being spotted hunting hares with dogs.

It is alleged that the former Two Fat Ladies star, who is an avid hunt supporter, and the sporting baronet Sir Mark Prescott attended an event on land owned by former champion horse trainer Peter Easterby in North Yorkshire in March.

The details emerged in a hearing at Scarborough magistrates’ court involving five co-defendants – including Mr Easterby, 78. The pair will face four charges, including two of hunting hares with dogs, before a private prosecution being brought by the International Fund for Animal Welfare next month.

Ms Dickson Wright, 60, of Inveresk, East Lothian, whose show ended when fellow TV chef Jennifer Paterson died in 1999, was not available for comment.
